Club Redevelopment
To continue the strong legacy of the Christchurch Yacht Club into the future, the Club is working on redeveloping our location to enhance the value we provide, not only to our members, but to the local, and wider community as well.

The eventual redevelopment of the club facilities encompasses three major areas of work, of which the three are at different stages of completion. The Club looks at the project as one whole, made of three phases, as opposed to three separate projects.

Phase 1
The Boatshed
Initiated prior to the earthquakes, the redevelopment of the old Sumner Rowing Club building is the first phase of the project. Eventually planned to house members sailing dinghies, the shed sits on a platform that is incorporated to the Coastal Pathway, which will provide large open deck areas, and access to the foreshore for the public.
Phase 2
The West Side
This will form the first part of the eventual clubhouse rebuild. This project incorporates reclamation of hardstand, slipway redevelopment and storage for the fleet of support vessels. This phase is underway, with more detailed design upcoming, along with applications for Resource and Building Consent

Phase 3
The Clubhouse
The final part of the redevelopment, the Clubhouse. Exactly what this part of the project will look like has yet to be determined. Either a full rebuild, or a renovation, we are committed to ensuring the continuation of a clubhouse for the cities oldest continuously sailing yacht club
